That of Macallan The sixth release is the Archival Series Folio 6 Single Malt. It pays homage to a humorous commercial in which “The Chairman” was expertly depicted as a Scotsman flinging over a pen and a brush, the symbols of the advertising firm Holmes & Salaman.

Allan Shiach, the Macallan Chairman at the time, was a writer who was known to periodically present a proposal to the company’s creative team. Naturally, the two admen balked at these suggestions from above, but they could hardly argue with something that came from The Macallan The Archival Series Folio 6 Single Malt.

A frown filled his eyes. Doubts were whispered. But the admen continued with their imaginative work, and in the end they chose to include the Chairman in their response to his challenge. For the corporation, the ensuing ad campaign is still recognized as one of the most memorable and entertaining.

The Macallan “Archival Series” is a limited edition product available only at distilleries and is styled after past Macallan advertisements.

In “Folio 6,” the sixth episode of the Archival Series, The Chairman makes an appearance. He’s dressed in Scottish regalia, dancing the Highland fling. The distillery’s PR consultants, Holmes and Salaman, created its logo with a pen and brush. Macallan Chairman Allan Shiach would sometimes send ideas to the team, and arguments between the two sections were frequent. By including the Chairman persona, Shiach gently reminded his public relations experts that he would always have the last say.
Like previous Folio releases, the bottle comes with a book within a gorgeous book-shaped tin box.
